Big Bizness (excerpt), 2005

This is a low quality excerpt. In the spring and summer of 2005, I began writing hip-hop songs. This was not necessarily as a parody, though it may look like it. I respect the musical form for its creativity, and was interested in the ways the language could mingle with spoken word performance. At the time I was also curious about how the breath is used in yoga traditions as a needle threading or connecting, and how rappers similarly write a good number of lyrics about breathing. Finally, there is an obvious political rant going on in this particular song, revealing a frustration with corporate irresponsibility, the public's infatuation with army-spawned vehicles, and the question of what 'ignorance' is in society that defines itself in relation to the 'information age.'
